I hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend. I’m loving that mine is a little longer than normal! That means next week I’ll only have 3 super early morning wake up calls.
We’ve had a beautiful and wonderful weekend at the beach. The weather has been pretty perfect, and since this is probably our last trip down while it’s still warm out it has been such a blessing!
Now let’s talk about running, shall we?
Monday – 7 miles
Monday started out with an easy 7 miles. Nothing real exciting to repot except I felt super tired so this was probably once of the slowest runs I have had since starting marathon training.
The great thing about it, I didn’t care! I just was focused on recovery.
Tuesday – 11 miles (tempo)
I went back to the basic tempo run this week. While it isn’t always fun, there is much that can really help train you both physically and mentally!
As you already know, Tuesday’s run was on the treadmill due to some unfortunate weather.
In total it was 1 mile warm up with strides, 9 miles at goal marathon pace (finishing the last in 7:24) and a 1 mile cool down.
Wednesday – 6 miles
Another painful easy day. I was having some calf issues so I took it really easy. The humidity has really picked up this week so that was a lot of fun.
Another slow slow run, but I knew my body was probably needing it after the tempo run the day before.
Thursday – 10 miles (workout)
I went back to a typical Hansons strength workout for this week. Due to 95% humidity Thursday morning I spent some more quality time on the treadmill.
In total I did: 20 minute warm up, 6 x 1 mile (7:24, 7:24, 7:24, 7:19, 7:19, 7:13) with 400 recovery and a short cool down. Time was running short so I think in total my cool down was only about 0.60 miles.
Afterwards I did a quick leg workout before hoping in the shower.
Friday – Off
Per usual, no running for me on Friday. I worked for 4 hours in the morning and then we got on the road to the beach!
Crazy dog in tow!
Saturday – 12 miles
I was waiting to see how the weather was going to be on Saturday to determine what I did. If it was nice enough the plan was to throw in some tempo miles.
Unfortunately, it was extremely hot and humid so it ended up just being an easy 12 miles.
Afterwards we spent most of the day hanging out in the sun and relaxing. A beautiful weekend at the beach!
Sunday – 8 miles
The goal is an easy 8 miles to finish out the week.
I wanted to finish about 5 miles less than last weeks total miles, and that I did! I didn’t have a really long run but will add another one back in next week.
Overall, I’m happy I dug deep this week!
How did your training go?
What was your best run?
